During a recent meeting with the head of Ukraine’s foreign intelligence service, Oleg Ivashchenko, Volodymyr Zelensky explained that the intelligence services had collected additional information about the cooperation of various international actors with Russia and that this data would be passed on to Ukraine’s allies. Zelensky noted that this information exchange is aimed at ensuring that international partners take these facts into account in their next decisions and strengthen the ability to put pressure on Moscow. As media reported, the President of Ukraine emphasized that one of the main reasons for concern is the increasingly close relationship between Russia and companies based in China, especially in connection with access to strategic data provided via satellites.
As the source reported, Zelensky denounced that images of Ukrainian territory taken by Chinese satellites were directly related to the increase in Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine. The president explained that access to space information through cooperation with Chinese organizations allows Russia to prolong the conflict, which, in his opinion, reduces the credibility and weight of diplomatic initiatives to achieve a solution. According to the media, “these cases allow Russia to prolong the war and take diplomacy less seriously.”
Added to this are concerns about other foreign actors’ support for Russia’s war effort. As the media detailed, Zelensky mentioned the case of Belarus and the recent deployment of Russian missiles on its territory. He highlighted the statement by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who said that about ten nuclear-capable Oreshnik missiles were planned to be deployed. Lukashenko, quoted in the publication, left open the possibility of a future increase in this type of weaponry, increasing the threat perception in the region and, in Zelensky’s words, “setting a dangerous precedent.”
The Ukrainian president also stated that the intensification of Russian-Belarusian cooperation and the use of sophisticated weapons in Belarus constituted a threat of international concern. In this regard, he assured that his country’s intelligence service continues to work on the collection and analysis of information that will allow a more precise assessment of risks and the preparation of appropriate responses. According to the same media, Zelensky ordered that the security services and responsible units be vigilant and prepare responses to possible contingencies related to both the information transmitted to Russia by foreign units and the presence of new weapons in neighboring areas.
In the economic and strategic area, the President also referred to the mechanisms that Russia uses to evade sanctions against its energy sector. The media reported that Zelensky plans to share with his international partners evidence about the strategies and schemes that Moscow uses to overcome economic restrictions. This information, as he explained, is aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of future sanctions, with the aim of limiting the resources available for the continuity of the offensive in Ukraine. Zelensky stressed that transparency and intelligence cooperation were essential to prevent Russia from “manipulating” to obtain revenue to finance the war.
The president noted that the international community must take seriously the exchange of strategic data between Moscow and Chinese organizations, as well as the development of new Russian military capabilities in allied countries. Zelensky described the spread of modern weapons in the areas bordering Ukraine as a development with the potential to have consequences for global security. According to the publication, the Ukrainian government is aware of these movements and has asked its allies for additional support to stop the advance of the Russian army and increase the security of essential infrastructure.
According to published reports, Zelensky repeatedly stated that Russia’s access to advanced space intelligence by Chinese units coincided with an increase in attacks on power grids, energy stations and other enclaves important to Ukraine’s functioning. The Ukrainian leader believes that the availability of this technical data had a concrete impact on the military tactics used from Moscow. The transfer of sensitive information about critical sites and infrastructure is at the heart of Ukrainian concerns.
According to the same media’s coverage of the issue, after analyzing these factors, Zelensky insisted on the idea that the durability of economic sanctions and the closure of international financing channels to Russia were indispensable tools for weakening the Kremlin’s offensive capacity. The President believes that coordinated actions and intelligence sharing between Ukraine and its partners can improve the development of strategies and responses that prevent Russia from prolonging the conflict indefinitely.
