MADRID, December 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed on Sunday that despite contacts with US mediation to end the war conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russia is only giving “real negative signals.”
“The real signals from Russia remain only negative: attacks on the front, Russian war crimes in the border areas and continued attacks on our infrastructure,” Zelensky said in a telephone conversation held this Sunday with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, and included in a press release from the Ukrainian presidency. Zelensky stressed that “it is essential that the world does not remain silent about all this.”
The Ukrainian leader spoke of the “diplomatic work in progress” and the meetings held in Florida between the Ukrainian representation and the American delegates “with European representatives also invited.”
The Ukrainian head of state noted that “there is a common feeling that it is important that consultations take place in a wider circle with our European allies following the work of the Ukrainian diplomatic team in the United States.”
“It is important that these negotiations be constructive and a lot depends on whether Russia really believes that it should end the war,” Zelensky argued.
He also conveyed to the Norwegian Prime Minister his gratitude for “his support and his willingness to continue helping” both in maintaining pressure on Russia and in the recovery after the Russian attacks. “Norway will help Ukraine in the face of resistance in the energy sector,” he stressed.
