Zezé di Camargo used social networks this Tuesday (16) to apologize to the daughters of presenter Silvio Santos following a video he published on Monday. The video generated a strong repercussion on social networks, the cancellation of the country singer’s Christmas special on SBT and also the cancellation of a show he would give in the city of São José do Egypt, in Pernambuco.

In the note, Zezé di Camargo says:
“Regarding the video that I published early yesterday morning, I would like to point out that I published the expression “prostitute” in a figurative sense, without any offensive or sexist intention. Despite this, the expression was misinterpreted. At no time was there the intention to disrespect the women of the Abravanel family or any woman. However, my words caused discomfort, and for that I sincerely apologize.”

What Zezé Di Camargo says
This Monday (15), Zezé Di Camargo published a video requesting the cancellation of the Christmas special “É Amor”, which will be broadcast on the 17th on SBT. He now says he doesn’t want the show to air. The justification? “I saw what happened on SBT in the last few days, during the inauguration of SBT News. And I swear to God that is not part of my thinking,” he commented.
In the video posted on Instagram, the singer said that “a son who does not honor his father and mother does not exist” and said he made this decision, even if the recording cost him “time, service”, because the way the channel’s administration behaved during the event “does not correspond” to what “a large part of the Brazilian people” think — nor, according to him, to what Silvio Santos thought.
First Lady Janja also reacted to Zezé Di Camargo’s comments this Monday (15). She was alongside President Lula during the inauguration of “SBT News”. “For a prestigious channel like SBT, the presence of local and national authorities at such an important launch for the Brazilian press symbolizes everything that Silvio Santos himself has always emphasized: ‘SBT’s journalism is not about sensationalism, it is about informing with respect'”, underlined the first lady.
She added: “I am sure that, respectfully, his daughters, his wife and his son-in-law will continue Silvio’s legacy with responsibility and brilliance, pursuing his goal as a communicator and making him proud wherever he is. I congratulate SBT News and all those who contribute to an increasingly solid and plural journalism in Brazil.”
Daughter of Silvio Santos and president of SBT, Daniela Beyruti published an open letter this Monday (15), after Zezé Di Camargo published a video criticizing the channel. The singer complained about the presence of Lula and Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes last week, at the launch of SBT News. Refuting her compatriot’s comments, Daniela stressed that the new channel wants to “offer Brazil reliable journalism, without parties, without parties.”
“In recent days, my family has been the target of criticism, even before we presented our proposal to SBT News. This is exactly what we want to fight: the lack of dialogue between a people who have many virtues and whom we love so much,” wrote Daniela Beyruti.
The executive stressed that the launch of SBT News, last Friday (12), “reflected this plurality and this respect for all institutions. We had representatives from the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislative.” “After saying all these things, I regret the way we were misunderstood. Before people saw our work, they decided to judge it.”
Then read the press release published by SBT following the repercussions of Zezé Di Camargo’s speech. The text is signed by Daniela Abravanel Beyruti, president of the channel:
“Monday December 15, 2025 – In recent days, my family has been the target of criticism, even before we presented our proposal for SBT News. This is exactly what we want to fight: the lack of dialogue between a people who have many virtues and whom we love so much. Over the last five years, SBT has been recognized by surveys carried out by the Reuters Institute as the most reliable and credible journalism. Our journalism follows a charter with the principles of my father and founder.
It is precisely thanks to this research and this letter with these principles that we found the courage to open an information channel with the proposal to transmit more of what we are and have. We are unbiased and unbiased. It is up to us to show the facts and for the public to judge them. The launch of the project, last Friday 12/12, reflected this plurality and this respect for all institutions. We had representatives from the executive, judiciary and legislature.
That said, I regret the way we were misunderstood. Before people saw our work, they decided to judge it. We want to provide reliable journalism in Brazil, without parties, without bias. Journalism that will not have bias, will not have algorithms, will not cause division or anger between parties, will not be powered by artificial intelligence and will only give the public information and the truth of the facts.
We love our country, we support it, we love our people, we work for them and we invite everyone to embark on this project which seeks to appease minds. To anyone who has doubts or fears, I invite you: watch SBT News. You will see, in practice, the quality, independent journalism that is our brand.”
