Samba Day was Tuesday, but the traditional Samba train, which celebrates its third decade this year, runs on Saturday. Samba bands depart from Central do Brasil towards Oswaldo Cruz at 6:04pm, 6:30pm and 6:50pm (free, with 1kg of food), with music in all carriages. Before that, in the same central center, Velhas Guardas and the samba singers were received by the founder Marquinhos de Oswaldo Cruz. At the final station, more than 20 wheels spread across the tracks in the area. Names like Roberta Sá, Leci Brandão and Dudu Nobre will appear on three main stages.

The hottest season of the year only begins on the 21st, but from Saturday onwards, “summer nights” return to Morro da Urca.
