It will be necessary to wait until February 3, 2026 for Cucho Hernández to celebrate his first year as a Real Betis player, but the Colombian striker took advantage of the end of 2025 to celebrate a calendar year in which he returned to a league of … high level as a Spaniard, after his time at Huesca, Mallorca and Getafe, and also as a Betic footballer, he is back with the selection of the Colombian national team. In a video posted on his social media profiles, the Pereira man looks back on his best moments on the pitch, his goals in the second round of the 24-25 season and the first round of the current 25-26 season and some of his celebrations, as well as his return to the cafe team.

Cucho only played his first match with the jersey that features the thirteen-bar shield on February 16, against Real Sociedad at the Benito Villamarín. Fifteen league matches, the only competition he was able to play given that he could not be registered in the Conference League – and when he arrived the team was already eliminated from the Copa del Rey -, in which he scored five goals. He started with Betis’ 2-3 victory in Butarque against Leganés and his second goal with the Betis jersey was no more and no less than in the derby against Sevilla at the Villamarín and it also meant the three points for Manuel Pellegrini’s team. Likewise, he scored one of the goals in the 5-1 victory against Valladolid and in the draws against Osasuna in Heliópolis (1-1) and Rayo in Vallecas (2-2).
After the championship season ended, Cucho Hernández returned to the Colombian national team. Néstor Lorenzo summoned the Pereira striker for the matches against Peru and Argentina corresponding to the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, in which he added only 62 against the Peruvian team.
Without injury and after the summer vacation, the Colombian started the preseason 25-26 with the desire and enthusiasm to continue contributing and growing at Betis, also already registered in the Europa League. So far he has accumulated nine goals, seven in La Liga and one in European competition and the Copa del Rey, being more of a starter for Pellegrini in the league tournament than in the rest of the competitions in which the Betic first team is immersed. He scored in four games in a row, against Levante, Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Espanyol, and after scoring goals against Valencia and Barcelona, he closed the year by scoring and assisting against Getafe.
In total, a year 2025 in which Cucho was the second top scorer for Betis, with 14 goals in all competitions, and the intention in 2026 to continue improving his individual performance to help the Betis group achieve all sporting goals and, in addition, be taken into account by the Colombian coach to participate in the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer. “2025: work, perseverance and faith. A year full of emotions and football. Thank you all. What comes will be better” and three green hearts, this was the message that the café attacker posted accompanying the video published on his social networks.
