Chicago (USA), January 1 (EFE). – Kevin Durant, the great “former” of the game, led the Houston Rockets this Thursday with 22 points in the comfortable 120-96 victory of the Texans in the field of the Brooklyn Nets of the Spanish coach Jordi Fernández.
The Rockets continued their good form in the NBA, scoring their fourth straight win, increasing their record to 21 wins and 10 losses, the fourth-best mark in the Western Conference.
The Nets, for their part, suffered their second setback in a row and are in third-to-last place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 10:21.
Durant, who played for the Nets from 2019 to 2023, returned home with 22 points and 11 assists, including 8 of 15 field goals.
The two-time NBA champion scored 10 of his 22 points in a great second period in which he showcased his extensive technical arsenal with some spectacular diving baskets and tackles.
In the first half, he dedicated himself to giving rhythm to his teammates and distributed five assists, two of them to the Turk Alperen Sengun, who finished the game with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Turkish center made 8 of his 12 field goals for the Rockets, who shot 57% overall (47 of 82), well above the Nets’ 34 of 76 (44%).
The Nets, who were without Michael Porter Jr. due to a health issue, lost their thirteenth of 17 home games this season. New York has the worst record of the season at home.
Porter Jr. had just scored 27 points against the Golden State Warriors last Monday and was the Nets’ leading scorer in 4 of the 5 previous games.
Brooklyn’s best was Cam Thomas with 21 points in 22 minutes on the court after coming off the bench. Ziaire Williams had 14 points while Nic Claxton and Noah Clowney scored 11 each.
The Rockets now play a Texas derby against the Dallas Mavericks before hosting the Phoenix Suns, another of Durant’s former teams.
The Nets now travel to the United States capital to take on the Washington Wizards before hosting the Denver Nuggets. EFE
