Sporting Clube São João de Ver, a third division team in Portugal, announced Daniel Alves as co-owner of the team. The information was made public a little less than a year after the acquittal of the former full-back in a case of rape of a young Spanish woman, for which he was sentenced in 2024.

The partnership was announced by the team on social media, who celebrated the situation as a “moment that will be remembered for the club”.
Also in the publication, the Portuguese team classified Daniel Alves as “a name that bears one of the most successful trajectories in world football and that now meets a club with deep roots, made of work, resilience and passion.”
Remember the Daniel Alves case
Daniel Alves was arrested by Spanish authorities in January 2023, based on allegations that he committed the crime of rape against a young woman in Barcelona on December 31, 2022. The former player was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
He was conditionally released at the end of March 2024, after paying bail of one million euros. The former Seleção defender was acquitted after the Spanish court ruled that the evidence against him would not be sufficient to support the player’s guilt in the case.
