Two people were injured when a large tree fell in Ibirapuera Park, in the southern zone of São Paulo, near Gate 3, at the entrance to Pedro Álvares Cabral Avenue, around 5 p.m. this Friday (2). According to information available so far, one of the victims, a 57-year-old woman, suffered head trauma, cardiac arrest and a shoulder injury. There is no information on the health status of the other person involved.

According to the UOL and G1 portals, two fire brigade vehicles and a military police helicopter were called to rescue the injured. The woman was transported by helicopter to São Paulo Hospital, in Vila Clementino, about two kilometers from Ibirapuera.
GLOBO contacted Urbia, the concessionaire that manages the park, for more details. However, no response has been received until publication of this text. According to park visitors, the wind at the time of the incident was not strong. As of now, there is no explanation as to why the tree fell.
