The only thing we know for sure is that elections will take place this year in Andalusia. Everything else, from the date to the results, is unknown today. It could be that they are in June as Juanma Moreno insists, the one who … has the power to dissolve Parliament and summon it. But there is also the possibility they arrive a little early and fall a few weeks early.
As for the results, the political map that emerges from these polls also remains an equation to be resolved. Everything indicates that Juanma Moreno’s PP will comfortably win the elections again, according to all polls. What is not so clear is if he obtains an absolute majority govern without the need for alliances.
To do this, he will need the polls to produce a result that gives him at least 55 MPs. Something that still remains unresolved judging by the latest investigations. This means that, as Juanma Moreno himself has repeatedly said, They will have to fight to achieve this against the party What’s causing you more headaches, Vox.
And the team led by Santiago Abascal seems to have the wind in its sails. If what the polls say is true and if the trend of elections in Extremadura continues, Vox will continue to rise, endangering Juanma Moreno’s absolute majority and following in the footsteps of the PSOE. The latest Centra poll gives it between 19 and 22 seats compared to 14 currently.
It is also a situation which makes Vox about to surprise the socialists in Andalusia despite the fact that the current speaker of Parliament, Manuel Gavira, has not been officially designated as a candidate for the Junta de Andalucía, although it is assumed that he will be the headliner.
The former stronghold of the socialists
The situation of socialists in Andalusia is also delicate. All polls give him a significant drop compared to the 30 deputies they currently have in the regional chamber. And the candidate, the vice-president of the government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has not achieved, for the moment, what was expected of her: recovering lost ground in the territory. which has always been considered one of the most important strongholds of socialism.
However, Montero, who is still a candidate on the weekends, does not seem to be able to return. In fact, she continues to cling to Pedro Sánchez and refuses to leave the government. Everything indicates that he will follow in the footsteps of his former colleague Pilar Alegría and will not leave the ministry until the elections are officially called. It must be added to this that Montero is the candidate against regional financing and that she refuses to grant Andalusia what she asked for when she was a councilor in the Council. And also the one that favors Catalonia to the detriment of Andalusia.
As for the radical left, it appears more fractured than ever with three candidates in the running. On one side Adelante Andalucía with José Ignacio García, on the other Antonio Maíllo, who is again a candidate in his native country this time with Por Andalucía and another candidacy, that of Podemos with Juan Antonio Delgado at the top of the list.
