The Civil Guard rescued an elderly man in Villaviciosa de Córdoba who had disappeared the previous afternoon after leave the house with her vehicle and that she was stuck in a manhole after being the victim of a road accident.
The Civil Guard had … knowledge, through a telephone call, of the disappearance of a 80 year old personof British origin, with possible cognitive problems and domiciled in Villaviciosa de Córdoba.
The officers immediately went to the home of the appellant and wife of the missing person, to gather first-hand all possible information on the circumstances of the events, knowing that the person left his house the previous afternoon in his private vehicle and did not return, spending the night in an unknown location.
With the data obtained during the interview, as well as the description of the vehicle and the missing person, the Civil Guard established a search device, including the support of nearby patrols, interviews with neighbors, places and establishments frequented by the missing person, in addition to inspecting the possible roads and routes by which he could have traveled.
Thanks to the device, the Civil Guard managed to locate the vehicle in which the missing person was last seen, found in an accident on the “El Algarrobillo” road, in the municipality of Villaviciosa de Córdoba, so the search was further intensified due to the new discovery.
The man was located two kilometers from the accident
Thanks to the rapid and effective action of the Civil Guard, the agents managed to locate the missing person approximately 2 km from the scene of the accident, next to a water crossing on the A-3075 highway, stuck by a stone that movement prevented or seek help, in a semi-conscious state and exhibiting severe hypothermia after spending the night humid, low temperature and outdoors, in addition to minor injuries and bruising to the extremities.
The victim was said to have been disoriented due to the road accident and, while trying to return to his home, he had a spectacular fall and found himself stuck in the manhole. Civil Guard agents managed to safely release the man and he was quickly evacuated to the Villaviciosa Medical Center in Córdoba where he received emergency medical care, being stabilized due to his serious condition and then transferred by ambulance to the Reina Sofia University Hospital for deeper attention.
