Victim of alleged Ukrainian attack in Kherson – PRO-RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT IN KHERSON, UKRAINE
MADRID, 1 (EUROPA PRESSE)
At least 24 people were killed and more than 50 injured following a drone attack on the town of Jorli in Kherson on Ukraine’s Black Sea coast controlled by Russian forces, according to pro-Russian authorities in Kherson.
“According to initial reports, there are more than 50 people injured and 24 dead (…). Many were burned to death. There is a dead child,” explained the pro-Russian governor of Kherson, Volodimir Saldo, in a message published on his Telegram account.
The intensity of the flames, which could not be extinguished until Thursday morning, prevented the victims from being rescued, he said.
Saldo said three drones hit a cafeteria and a hotel where “there were civilians celebrating the New Year.” “One of the drones was loaded with an incendiary mixture like the one kyiv used this summer to burn our fields. Now they deliberately burned people,” said Saldo, who compared the attack to that of the Odessa House of Trade Unions.
Saldo denounced that “this is the peace that (Ukrainian President Volodimir) Zelensky says he wants.” “kyiv continues to talk about peace. Let the world see what kind of ‘peace’ it offers: 24 dead, dozens of injured, women, children, an attack on a New Year’s party,” he criticized.
The pro-Russian leader announced the declaration of two days of mourning on January 2 and 3 in the Kherson region. “The region mourns with the victims. All victims are receiving the necessary care,” he announced.
The Russian Defense Ministry reports in its latest report the interception of 250 drones since last night, the majority in the Krasnodar region, followed by the Sea of Azov, Tula, Crimea and Moscow. Additionally, the shooting down of a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet is notable.
The Russian Investigative Committee has already opened an investigation into a “terrorist attack that resulted in the death of more than 20 civilians.”
Later, Saldo himself reported “another bloody crime committed by the degenerates of kyiv”, following the death of a five-year-old boy in a drone attack on a vehicle in which, in addition to the child, his mother and grandparents were traveling in the Olechkinski district. “The child died and all adults suffered multiple injuries” and were hospitalized with a serious prognosis at the Central Regional Hospital in Skadovsk.
The Ukrainian authorities have not yet responded to this information, but they have confirmed the death of a 31-year-old man which they attribute to an attack by a Russian drone precisely in Kherson. Specifically, the attack took place in the Dnipro district of Kherson, as reported by Ukrainian military governor of Kherson Oleksandr Prokudin.
