The Caixa Econômica Federal postponed until this Thursday (1st) the draw of the 17th Mega-Sena da Virada, with a prize confirmed at R$1.09 billion – the largest in history. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m.
The reason was a technical problem in processing bets.
In a statement, Caixa claims that the record price generated “an unprecedented movement in betting channels, which reached 120 thousand transactions per second on the digital channel”, in addition to almost 5 thousand in lottery units.
Initially scheduled for 10 p.m., the draw has not started broadcasting. On social networks, punters complained. After an hour, the postponement was announced.
The draw will be broadcast on Caixa’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
Bets on Mega da Virada could be placed this Wednesday until 8 p.m. (Brasilia time) at a lottery point or online, through the Loterias Caixa application or through the Caixa lottery website. A single bet, with six numbers, costs R$6. The most expensive, with 20 numbers, costs R$232,560.
