Caixa Econômica Federal informed that the Mega da Virada 2025 draw will take place this Thursday (1st), at 10 a.m., after a delay of more than an hour in the start of transmission. The time change, according to the institution, occurred due to the need for operational adjustments given the exceptional volume of bets recorded in the last hours. The delay in clarifying the delay generated hundreds of criticisms from punters.

According to Caixa, the record price, now confirmed at 1.09 billion reais, generated an unprecedented movement in the betting channels. In the digital environment, the system has reached peaks of up to 120,000 transactions per second. In lottery units, 4,745 transactions were recorded per second, a level higher than the history of the modality.
In an official note, the institution indicated that “the Mega da Virada 2025 draw has been postponed to this Thursday, January 1, at 10 a.m.”, stressing that the high demand required technical interventions to guarantee the stability and security of the systems before the competition takes place.
Caixa also informed that the draw will be broadcast live on the institution’s social networks, notably on the official Loterias Caixa channels on YouTube and Facebook.
Still according to Caixa, operational adjustments were adopted to guarantee the integrity of the process and the reliability of the result, although the technical procedures carried out were not detailed.
Traditionally the most anticipated in the federal lotteries calendar, this year’s Mega da Virada competition reached the highest value ever offered. The anticipation surrounding the billion-dollar prize has led to a significant increase in betting, both on digital channels and at lottery offices across the country.
