The Cruzeiro name change took place in 1942. According to the club’s website, with the Axis countries (Germany, Italy and Japan) officially declared enemies of Brazil, any reference to these nations should be eliminated.
Still according to the team, in October of the same year, the constellation Cruzeiro do Sul was adopted as its symbol and the uniform would become blue, in veiled reference to the Italian team’s jersey.
Among the main titles, Raposa has won two Libertadores da América, four Brazilian Championships and 38 Minas Gerais Championships. Additionally, he is the biggest winner of the Copa do Brasil, with six titles.
