Several people were killed and others injured in an explosion at a bar in the luxury Alpine ski resort of Crans Montana, Swiss police said on Thursday.
“There was an explosion of unknown cause,” Gaetan Lathion, police spokesman in the canton of Valais in western Switzerland, told AFP. “There are several injured and several dead,” he added.
The explosion occurred at around 1:30 a.m. (00:30 GMT) at Le Constellation bar, popular with tourists, as visitors celebrated the New Year.
Images published by the Swiss press show a burning building and rescue workers are on site.
