The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez, Feijóo, sent this Friday to the Catarroja investigating court which is investigating the management of the dana, which caused 230 deaths in the province of Valencia, the messages he sent on October 29, 2024 to the president of the Generalitat at the time, Carlos Mazón.
Feijóo is interested in the number of dead and missing, asks Mazón if the government has called him and hopes he will help. In addition, she repeatedly recommends that he direct communication because it is “the key”, according to the notarial deed to which Europa Press had access.
So, at 7:59 p.m., in the second WhatsApp with Mazón, he sent him a message of encouragement and added: “Lead informatively as you did with fire.” In these ten messages that they exchanged that night, there is another in which he repeats to her: “Take the initiative in communication… This is the key. The mayors, the councils, coordinate with the people and inform you.”
On December 24, the president of the PP already sent to the judge the WhatsApp messages that the former president of the Generalitat had sent him on the day of the tragedy and requested that his witness statement – scheduled for January 9 – be produced electronically, a request to which the judge granted. The magistrate asked Feijóo to “voluntarily” provide his communications with the former Valencian baron.
Given the criticism he received, notably from the PSPV, for not having sent the entirety of his conversation with Mazón, Feijóo justified himself to the media on the 29th by assuring that he had sent the judge what he had asked of her and showed his willingness to send her the messages he sent to Mazón if she requested it. Finally, this Friday, Feijóo sent to the judge another notarial deed with the messages he sent to the former president of the Consell on October 29, 2024.
“While the government accuses the judges of prevarication and Pedro Sánchez and his former prosecutor change cell phones or delete messages, Feijóo continues to collaborate with justice in an exemplary manner, because it could not be otherwise,” add party sources. According to the PP, faced with “the total disinformation” of the Sánchez government at the beginning of the dana, Feijóo contacted the president of the Generalitat at the time to “inquire directly about the situation and propose coordination with town halls and municipal councils, as well as to request that citizens be informed”. Likewise, he expressed his desire to travel quickly to Valencia, training sources added.
