Barcelona, 2. January (EFE). – The works “Edoardo C” by Alba Ramírez Roeznillo; “The Agent of Africa” by Marius de Montenoir (pseudonym); “Rouge Another Summer Day,” by Oriol Arce (pseudonym); “Las Magpies” by Paula Gil and “La Musique” by Clara Schumann (pseudonym) are the five finalists of the 82nd edition of the Nadal Novel Prize, presented in 1,207.
This was announced this Friday by the publisher Destino, organizer of the 30,000 euro prize, whose award ceremony will traditionally take place on the 6th at the Palace Hotel in Barcelona.
The works that come from Spain and the rest of the world are dominated by contemporary novels that reflect personal and universal concerns as well as generational dynamics and also an interest in the urban and rural world.
In terms of genre, there is a “preference” for crime and suspense novels, with “particular attention to stories with a feminist, historical, fantasy or nature-based background”.
The jury of this edition consists of Víctor del Arbol, Juan Luis Arsuaga, Inés Martín Rodrigo, Care Santos and Emili Rosales.
In 2025, the winning work was “El Secreto de Marcial” by Argentinian Jorge Fernández Díaz.
Historical, suspenseful and diary novels in Josep Pla
On the same evening, the 58th Josep Pla Prize for Prose in Catalan will be awarded, with five of the 42 submitted manuscripts reaching the final.
Authors such as Lorenzo Silva, Manuel Vilas, Carme Riera, Alicia Giménez Bartlett, Karmele Jaio, as well as Laia Aguilar, Marc Artigau, Sebastià Alzamora, Antoni Bassas, Paula Bonet and Andreu Claret have confirmed their participation in the event.
