“The government has decided to dissolve the technical staff and suspend the national team until further notice of players Bruno Ecuele Manga and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang – the note states.
President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema made a public statement shortly before this announcement. “It is a part of the national identity that is weakened. The selection reveals two important problems which reflect persistent structural deficiencies: the lack of method and the waste of resources,” he added.
Gabon was eliminated from the African Cup of Nations after three defeats in three matches and also failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
At 36, Aubameyang has become known for his stints at big clubs around the world, including Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea. Currently, the striker plays for Olympique Marseille, France.
