The Air Force has partially reconsidered its position of keeping operational costs of an FAB flight that lasted Hugo Motta And Gilmar Mendes to participate in the first Latin edition of “Gilmarpalooza”, the legal forum organized by Minister STF, in Buenos Aires.
The agency partially accepted an appeal via the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and ultimately declared the plane’s crew’s expenses. 1,935 US dollars, or approximately 10,600 reais, were paid for this purpose.
The plane, responsible for supporting the Speaker of the House, left Brasilia on November 5 with 10 passengers. The list of people on board has not been published.
The Air Force says it is up to the requesting authority to keep a record of those who accompanied the trip. But the Chamber alleges that Motta’s use of FAB planes is based on “institutional security” reasons, requiring secrecy.
Additionally, the Air Force has once again denied access to other expenses, such as fuel. The data was classified as restricted, the lowest level of restriction on public information, with a maximum duration of 5 years. This classification applies to documents that could harm national security, economic stability or strategic plans.
The review of crew costs builds on precedents established in other cases. In July, the Air Force reported such expenses for another FAB flight, also requested by Motta, which took the House speaker to Lisbon’s edition of Gilmarpalooza. At the time, the organization said it had paid around R$60,000 in daily wages, in response to a request via LAI made by journalist Rafael Moraes Moura, of Malu Gaspar’s column.
