Former MP Eduardo Bolsonaro declared this Friday 2 that “it is obvious that he is not able to return to Brazil now”, but “he will not give up” his position in the federal police with “hands on deck”. This appointment comes after a decree published this morning determined the “immediate return” of the former parliamentarian to his post at the federal police station of Angra dos Reis, in Rio de Janeiro.
“I will hold on. … I will fight for this (my position in the Federal Police). Because I know that I am a person who fought to pass this exam. I know that they want to take away my PF retirement, as well as my possession of weapons and my Glock pistol, which still today bears the coat of arms of the Federal Police. They want to harm me”, said the former parliamentarian in a video published on X this afternoon.
The reaction is due to an act of the PF Personnel Management Committee which determined the termination of Eduardo Bolsonaro’s leave to exercise his elective mandate from December 19 – after the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies declared the loss of his parliamentary mandate due to absences.
In the video, Eduardo states that he “is not able to return to Brazil”, citing the fact that his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, returned to PF prison, in Brasilia, after an operation. The former head of the Executive was dismissed from office this Thursday, 1st, and returned to serve the 27-year prison sentence to which he was sentenced for the coup d’état perpetrated by his government in 2022.
The former MP reaffirmed that he was a “target of persecution” and also criticized the management of the corporation of which he is a member. “I have not renounced all parliamentary privileges to submit to the whims of the sycophantic tyrants who run the federal police,” he wrote. “Let the Gestapo do what they want with my public scrutiny, I will never trade my honor for a job in the public bureaucracy,” he added.
Understand the case
With the determination of the Federal Police (PF) this Friday, 2, that Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) returns to his position as clerk, the former deputy will again be assigned to the corporation police station in Angra dos Reis, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro, as published in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU).
Eduardo’s period of absence from the PF ended after the Chamber of Deputies declared his loss of mandate, on December 18, for absences. Consequently, the authorization granted to exercise the elective mandate lost its validity.
Eduardo has lived in Texas, United States, since March 2025. He then took a leave of absence from the House to try to block, with the help of the White House, the trial of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Eduardo served as an employee of the Federal Police between 2010 and 2014. He worked in the departments of Guajará-Mirim (RO), Guarulhos (SP), São Paulo and Angra dos Reis (RJ), before taking office as a federal deputy, according to his biography published on the Chamber’s website. He graduated in law from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
