On vacation in Rio de Janeiro, President Lula gave advice to his aides on how to deal with the Trump administration’s threats to invade Venezuela in an attempt to topple the regime of dictator Nicolas Maduro.
The PT member’s “instructions”, according to former chancellor Celso Amorim, current head of Lula’s International Council at the Planalto Palace, is that attacks on the South American continent are not tolerated.

“The instructions are the same: attacks on the South American continent cannot be tolerated. But the degree of reaction depends on the facts and the human and material damage,” Amorim told the column.

Trump announces first attack on Venezuela
On Monday (12/29), US President Donald Trump announced that he had launched a first attack on Venezuelan territory. The action was allegedly carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
According to the North American press, the attack was carried out via drone bombings and targeted a port allegedly used by a terrorist group linked to drug trafficking.
