The United States Geological Survey (USGS) pointed out that the earthquake occurred on land near the municipality of Tecoanapa, located about 300 kilometers from Mexico City.
According to the USGS, the depth of the epicenter was 35 kilometers below the surface, which is considered shallower. This could cause the tremor to gain more force on land. So far, no casualties have been reported.
