The Executive Commission of Mercasevillacomposed of the Seville City Council and the Mercasa, approved during its last session a series of actions for a total amount of more than 1.3 million euros.
Among the approved works are investments intended to improve … conditions of conservation of food products, particularly on the fish and seafood market. These actions will allow strengthen security, energy efficiency and good maintenance of the cold chainwith an estimated value of 141,567.20 euros.
Likewise, the start of new investments aimed at strengthen the security and operational continuity of the Food Unitlike the installation of generators this will ensure the functioning of markets in the event of possible incidents in the electricity supply. This action has an estimated value of 995,206.04 euros.
At the same time, the Executive Commission gave the green light to the start of the procurement procedure for a comprehensive urban technical assistance service, a fundamental tool to consolidate the current location of Mercasevilla and providelegal and urban stability to the economic activity of the sitewith an estimated value of 190,000 euros.
On the other hand, various asset management operations and commercial space allocationaimed at promoting economic activity and employment, optimizing the entity’s assets and contributing to the financial viability of Mercasevilla.
The President of the Executive Commission, Evelia Rincón, highlighted that “these decisions reinforce the role of Mercasevilla as an essential infrastructure for supply, employment and the economy of Seville.”
As New Year’s Eve approaches and during the Christmas holidays, Mercasevilla recorded “one of the busiest times of the year”, with a daily average of around 4,000 vehicles, including around 400 heavy trucks, and a movement of approximately 1.5 million kilos of products per day.
