On New Year’s Eve, on Avenida Paulista, a woman went to the civil police to report her husband for domestic violence suffered years ago. The case was recorded by the Mobile Women’s Defense Commission (DDM), set up during the event as a traveling reception and protection service.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the victim had been in an abusive relationship for more than 50 years and had never filed a complaint with the police. “We registered the complaint and requested an urgent protective measure from the judiciary,” explained delegate Valéria Andreza do Nascimento, who was in the unit.

Gospel, forró and country music performances, as well as a silent fireworks display, make up the approximately 14-hour program planned for Virada na Paulista. The countdown to the arrival of next year is entrusted to singer Simone Mendes, whose show will be interrupted to welcome 2026.
The military police employ 1,950 agents for the Paulista New Year operation, with drones, observation towers, undercover police and 200 facial recognition cameras. The Metropolitan Civil Guard will strengthen patrols with more than 1,100 agents, support from 9,000 Smart Sampa cameras and specific operations during the new year.
In the health sector, the event will include seven gas stations distributed throughout Paulista, ambulances and mobile intensive care units, integration with emergency care units that operate 24 hours a day and a situation room that monitors, in real time, all requests through the Smart Sampa system.
During the party there will be a space for people with disabilities on the main stage on Avenida Paulista. Throughout the program, the Municipal Secretariat for Human Rights and Citizenship (SMDHC) carries out assistance and protection campaigns, including operations within the framework of the Não Se Cale protocol, the reception of women in situations of violence and the activities of Procon Paulistano.
