
A fire broke out in a bar at a luxury ski resort in Switzerland during New Year’s celebrations on Thursday (1/1). According to a figure published by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the accident left at least 40 dead and 100 injured.

The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. (local time) at the Crans-Montana resort, located in a ski resort in the southwest of the country.
According to local media, the authorities spoke of “dozens of victims” and indicated that their number could increase. The causes of the explosion are still under investigation.
On social networks, the President of the Confederation, Guy Parmelin, deplored the tragedy.
“What should have been a moment of joy turned into a day of mourning in Crans-Montana on New Year’s Day, a tragedy that affected the entire country and well beyond. The Federal Council noted this terrible event with dismay,” he said.
The Crans-Montana station also spoke out on social media regarding the incident, regretting what happened and advising families to contact local police to access information on the case.
