Free on the market since his departure from Monterrey, Mexico, Sergio Ramos presented a proposal to buy Sevilla, the club that revealed him to football. According to “Cadena SER” radio, the defender leads a group of investors interested in a total acquisition of the club.
The proposal has already been presented to the club’s main shareholders and comes at a time when negotiations to sell the club to a North American consortium are running out of steam. This comes after the company discovered the club was in a poor financial situation, leading the consortium to reduce the offer.
With this, the initiative led by Sergio Ramos gained weight because the defender has experience as an investor since he is one of the investors of San Fernando, an Andalusian third division club.
However, the sale of Sevilla is still far from having a definitive conclusion, but the name of the defender is one of the relevant options for the future of the club since he has been a protagonist in it.
The club is going through a serious financial crisis which forces it to limit its payroll. When asked about it during the last press conference, coach Matías Almeyda said he didn’t know if it was true or not, but he respected the Spaniard.
“I don’t know if it’s true or not, but these are subjects in which I have no interest. I respect Sergio as a player and as a man; he is a world legend. As for what he can do with his economy, I am not an economist,” said the Argentine coach.
Sergio Ramos was trained at the Seville training center and had two stints at his favorite club, in which he played 88 matches. After notable stints at Real Madrid and PSG, the defender played in Monterrey, Mexico but left the club to seek a new challenge.
