The nation’s Chamber of Deputies will today deduct from its employees the 700,000 pesos it mistakenly paid. In response, it told workers yesterday that they would “not spend” that amount as it would be deducted from their accounts on the first working day of the year.
At the end of December, legislative staff received the bonus bonus and salary for the last month of the year, but yesterday they found a new deposit of 699,177.82 pesos in their salary accounts.
The workers’ joy was short-lived as it was neither a bonus nor an additional salary. The House of Commons authorities reported that “there is a beneficial deposit in the bank of $699,177.82,” but that it was a “banking error.”
