While the toasts and celebrations of the start of a new year continued, the first births of the year took place in various hospitals across the city.
The first person born in the city in 2026 was Madeline, who opened her eyes at 2:22 a.m. at the Alejandro Korn Hospital in Melchor Romero. The birth took place without complications, it was the first birth of the year in the local public health system and it filled her mother, Nancy Aparicio, the guard and the medical team present in the first hours of the year with emotions.
The baby weighed 4,165 kilograms and was cared for by obstetricians Laura Alonso and Luciana Antonelli. The gynecologist Natalia Pesa also took part, while the reception and control of the newborn was taken over by the neonatologist Gabriela La Posta.
This newspaper has learned that Madeline, like her mother, is in good health and continues to receive her usual care from the medical team at Alejandro Korn Hospital.
Two hours later, Benicio Felipe was born at the San Roque de Gonnet hospital. “We welcomed him with the joy of his mother Gabriela and his father Facundo,” said the doctors who carried out the procedure. The child weighed 3,750 kilograms and, like his mother, is in good health. The on-call staff of the tocogynecological service who attended the birth consisted of doctors Valentina Tacchini, Agustina Fernández Mastropierro and Carina Huth; and the María Inés Huarte, Girometti and Ignacio Sanz licenses.
Thirdly, Ivana Jazmín was born at sunrise and the first dawn of 2026 in the San Martín Hospital. The birth occurred at 7:43 a.m. and the baby weighed 2,400 kilograms.
The mother is 36.3. It was a week of pregnancy and everything went “perfectly”, it was said in a dialogue with EL DIA. The medical team that attended the birth consisted of Florencio Cao, Tomás Sau and Martina Tarling, accompanied by Mauricio Lauquen and neonatology staff from the polyclinic.
However, at the national level, Mía Saray Frías Olaechea was the first person to give birth: at 00 a.m. at the Italia Clinic in San Luis.
