The beginning of 2026 will not change the dynamics of monthly increases, so January brings the introduction of new increases in various areas: buses, rental, tolls, vehicle technical inspection, expenses, mobile telephony and cable services, among others. Everything will affect inflation and people’s wallets.
RENTAL
Tenants who need to update their payments in January will receive increases in line with the agreed deadline. The Lease Contracts Index (ICL) will rise according to the following pattern reported by the Real Estate Professional Forum: quarterly, 5.84%; quarterly 8.22% and semi-annually 12.83%. For the few remaining contracts with annual updates, the increase in January is 36.35%.
For the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the increases will be as follows: quarterly 9.09%; quarterly 7.06%; semi-annually 12.95%.
MICRO
From January 2nd, the new tariff regulation for short-distance buses in the region will come into force, with an increase of 4.5%.
Minimum ticket (from 0 to 3 kilometers) with registered SUBE card: $749.72 ($1,192.05 with unregistered SUBE); from 3 to 6 km: $818.45 ($1,301.33 with unregistered SUBE); from 6 to 12 km: $885.64 ($1,408.17 with unregistered SUBE); from 12 to 27 km: $948.46 ($1,508.05 with unregistered SUBE); more than 27 km: $1,000.82 ($1,591.31 with unregistered SUBE).
For those who benefit from the social tariff, the new values apply from Sunday: from 0 to 3 kilometers: $337.37; from 3 to 6 km: $368.30; from 6 to 12 km: $398.54; from 12 to 27 km: $426.81; more than 27 km: $450.37.
VEHICLE TECHNICAL INSPECTION
Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) rates in Buenos Aires Province will increase on January 16. The new prices for wafer renewal and circulation capability will be 21.8% more expensive compared to the values in force since July. With this increase, the base price of the service in the Buenos Aires area will increase from $79,640.87 to $97,057.65.
NAPHTHA
The gas increase has already begun to take effect, which is the first blow to the wallet of 2026 that will be felt in La Plata and across the country. This is because, as reported yesterday, fuel producing, importing and marketing companies will have to apply the new amounts for tax accounting.
In this way, the executive branch determined that gasoline would be subject to an increase in the liquid fuel tax of $17,291 and the carbon dioxide tax of $1,059 per liter. For diesel, the increase is $14,390 per liter for the general tax, $7,792 for the differential rate that applies to regions such as Patagonia and certain inland areas, and $1,640 per liter for the carbon tax.
In the case of La Plata, the YPF gas station noticeboards today say that premium gasoline costs $1,594, while Infinia remained at $1,812. While the diesel is worth $1,616 and the diesel Infinia is worth $1,809.
At Shell, the signs indicate that you pay $1,699 for the Super and $1,977 for the V-Power. While the V-Power Diesel is valued at $1,949.
OTHER UPGRADES
Prepaid health insurance plans will see an increase next month, ranging from 2.2% to 2.9% depending on the company, plan and region of the country. In the telecommunications sector, mobile and cable companies will apply new increases in January, ranging from 3% to 4.5%.
Meanwhile, ordinary expenses will increase by 2 to 3 percent, as reported by the Chamber of Consortium Managers of La Plata.
