For many moviegoers, Rebecca “Newt” Jorden is one of the most memorable charactersnot only Aliens: The Return (1986), sequel directed by James Cameron, but also of the entire saga. And it’s no wonder: this young girl who survived the infamous xenomorph attack marked an entire generation with her mixture of vulnerability and composure in the face of space terror. But behind this character hides an actress who practically does not exist in the world of cinema: Carrie Hennwhose fate after this single film is as interesting as it is surprising.
He was born May 7, 1976 in Panama City (Florida)daughter of a member of the US Air Force. His childhood was spent partly in Lakenheath, England, when his father was stationed there, and it was precisely at the school in this small town that a team of foundry I was looking for the child protagonist of the new sci-fi bet. Among hundreds of his peers, Henn stood out not only for his presence, but also for a natural interpretive maturity that appealed to Cameron and the production team.
With just nine years oldwithout any acting experience, lands the role of Newt, the young girl who represents the last glimmer of hope among the decimated colonists of LV-426, and who develops a deep bond with Lieutenant Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). His performance not only became a reference for the public, but earned him the Saturn Award for Best Young Actressas well as a nomination for the Young Artist Awards.
Unlike many child stars who find fame and decide (or decide themselves) to stay in the business, Henn chose a different path. After the premiere of Strangerand the film’s inevitable success, her family moved to California, where she resumed a life normal as a student with his friends and colleagues. He never participated in another major film production and rejected the idea of continuing in Hollywood because “acting was never his true passion“.
Henn completed his graduate studies at California State University and majors in liberal studies and child developmentand in 2000 he obtained his diploma to devote himself to teaching. Her training and personal values led her to work as teacher in primary schoolswhere she found a calling that she had always felt since she was a child, when she played “teach” with her dolls and stuffed animals.
At forty-nine years old, Henn has been married to Nathan Kutcher for twenty years and is the mother of one son. She remains entirely dedicated to teaching in California and, although she stays out of the media spotlight, she remains connected to the community Stranger during conferences and meetings and divides his time between his educational work and his Occasional presence at cinema-related eventsalways with the same humility that characterized her since she was discovered in a school cafeteria.
