On December 31, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation postponing increased tariffs on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets for one year. These items will continue to pay a 25% import tax, set for September 2025.
According to information from the White House, this postponement takes into account ongoing trade negotiations.
What has been postponed is the 30% increase on upholstered furniture and 50% on cabinets. These increases would come into effect on January 1, 2026.
