On the busy corner of Ibirapuera and Indianópolis avenues, the city of São Paulo has a different rhythm, at Parque das Bicicletas.
Opened in August 2000, this space of more than 44 thousand m² has walking areas, an open-air gym, yoga classes, fitdanceand functional, in addition to being the headquarters of the Ibirapuera Sports Center – CEE Mané Garrincha and the Olympic Training and Research Center (COTP).
But the highlight is the exclusive track for bicycles, roller skates and skateboards.
Bike park
The space is known for pump tracka continuous track circuit with speed bumps and inclined curves for bicicross practice.
In total, the Nilceu Saito track, whose name is a tribute to the precursor of bicicross in Brazil, has two levels with varying degrees of difficulty, which can also be visited by beginners and children.
This is the second track managed by the Municipal Directorate of Sports and Leisure. The first is located at the Extreme Sports Center, in Bom Retiro, and has been operational since 2016.
Travel tips on the agenda
Bring enough water for the time you will spend in the park, as the place does not have any points to refill with drinking water, except for the taps located in the bathrooms.
For those who do not have their own bike, the Eco Bike Shop, opposite the park entrance, offers bike rental from R$15/hour.
The place also offers BMX rentals (R$30/h), individual tricycles (R$18/h) and family tricycles (R$40/h), as well as skateboards and longboards (from R$15/h).
It is also worth remembering that pets are not allowed to enter or stay in the entire park area.
