One of the biggest promises of the Grêmio training center, young attacking midfielder Gabriel Mec, barely 17 years old, is in the sights of a giant of European football. After all, Liverpool have been eyeing the gem for at least two seasons.
Reds scouts watched Grêmio train in São Paulo. Then, they went to Vila Belmiro to watch the Tricolor’s match against Santos on October 1. However, Gabriel Mec remained on the bench and did not come on.
The promise is seen as a potential sale of Immortal for 2026. The athlete was included this year in “The Guardian” list as one of the 60 best young talents in the world.
Last season, Gabriel Mec received an offer from Shakhtar Donestk for 15 million euros (R$95.1 million at the time). However, the young man rejected the offer as he was not interested in playing in Ukrainian football at the moment. The trend is for him to have more opportunities in the professional team next season. In 2025, he debuted in the top Gauchão team and played two matches.
This season he also played for the Brazilian team in the U17 World Cup, but was a reserve. The team finished in fourth place.
