General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Mayor’s Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, died this month from serious injuries caused by a car bomb explosion in the Russian capital Moscow. The Russian Investigative Committee, which opened an investigation into the matter, reported that the explosive was in the lower part of Sarvarov’s vehicle, according to information gathered by the Russian news agency TASS.
The explosion took place on Yasenevaya Street, in the Russian capital, as confirmed by Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the entity. “After the initial investigations, the object was placed in the vehicle with premeditation. The general died after suffering serious injuries,” he confirmed.
This is the second car bomb attack this month. On December 1, an explosion took place in the courtyard of a residential building in Nueva Moscú and in the vehicle of a physicist specializing in quantum electronics from the Stelmaj Polius Research Institute. This organization, which is part of the Russian arms giant Rostec, develops laser rangefinders and target designators for precision weapons, including missiles. The scientist is unhurt.
This type of incident is common in Russia, where several senior army officials have died since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Last April, General Yaroslav Moskalik died in a car bomb attack, also in Moscow.
