EH Bildu announced an agreement with the government to maintain social shield measures during the year 2026. It concerns the ban on evictions for vulnerable families without alternative housing, the ban on cuts in basic supplies (electricity, water and gas) and the extension of the electricity social bonus.
These are measures that were going to expire on December 31. The Government will have to approve a new decree from the last Council of Ministers of the year, tomorrow Tuesday, to maintain them. “EH Bildu appreciates the agreement reached after the intense negotiations of recent weeks, because it will allow us to continue to provide essential protection in the difficult economic and social context that thousands of people are going through,” defends EH Bildu in a press release.
The ban on evictions of vulnerable people was included for the first time in the social shields that the government was putting in place following the economic effects arising from the war in Ukraine, from February 2022.
