
The Government agreed this Monday with EH Bildu to maintain the approved measures to protect the social shield throughout 2026. EH Bildu stressed that “Maintaining these important social measures is the result of discreet and constant work and the pressure from different social groups”, and appreciated the agreement obtained, after “the intense negotiations” of recent weeks, because “it will allow us to continue providing protection which is still very necessary in the difficult economic and social context that thousands of people are going through. The social shield includes the three fundamental pillarsdemanded by social majorities and various groups”, underlined the spokesperson for EH Bildu in Congress, Mertxe Aizpurua.
The Basque formation stressed that these measures will mean “basic protection for thousands of homes and families”both in Euskadi and Navarra and in the rest of the state, and will offer “certainty and tranquility to people and households suffering from economic difficulties”.
According to the spokesperson for EH Bildu, “with this agreement, we reaffirm and reiterate once again through actions our desire to improve the living conditions of Basque citizensas well as the workers of the State and its people. “We will continue to work in this direction.”
Thus, EH Bildu expressed its commitment to continue working throughout the legislature to “advance in improving labor rights, food and housing, fundamental pillars to be able to develop a dignified life.” As he pointed out, with “little noise and a lot of work.”
