Botafogo announced this Monday 22 the hiring of Martin Anselmi to command the main team. The Argentine coach signed a contract valid for two years, until the end of 2027, and fills the position left vacant by Davide Ancelotti, whose departure was made official last week.
Anselmi arrives at Rio de Janeiro on January 4 to begin work on the Lonier space. The re-presentation of the main squad is scheduled for the next day, when the new coach will have his first contact with the group in preparation for the 2026 season.
In addition to the coach, Botafogo also confirmed the arrival of the entire technical committee which accompanies him. Help Luis Piedrahita And Pablo DeMunerthe physical trainer Diego Bottaioli and the goalkeeper coach Dario Herrera be part of the fixed structure of the club.

At 40, Anselmi has built a good part of his career outside of Argentina. He started out in football as a technical assistant and has worked with names such as Gabriel Militoin addition to having been part of the Miguel Angel Ramirez node Internationalin 2021.
As head coach he rose to prominence in the Iindependent of the Valleywhere he won the South American Cup and the Ecuador Cup in 2022, reiterating its leading role in 2023 with the titles of South American Cup and of Ecuador Super Cup.
The most recent work took place Port, where he found himself disconnected after elimination in the Club World Cup. Before that he also commanded the Blue Cross, of Mexicoand the Union La Calera, of Chileaccumulating experience in different international football markets.
In an official statement, Botafogo highlighted the winning profile of the new coach and welcomed the Argentine, projecting a new cycle of technical command for the years to come. In 2026, Fogão will compete for the Campeonato Carioca, Brasileirão, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil.
