A Mexican navy plane crashed this Monday in the Texan city of Galveston, United States. The Navy secretary said in a brief statement that the aircraft was “performing a medical support mission in coordination with the Michou and Mau Foundation,” known for its work with pediatric burn patients. Eight passengers were inside, Galveston officials confirmed to local media. At this time, it is not known whether there were any deaths or injuries.
The incident occurred in heavy fog in Galveston Bay as the plane approached Scholes International Airport on the outskirts of the city. Among the passengers was a child suffering from burns, the type of patients treated by the foundation.
