The Christmas spirit seems to be more generous this year in Rio. A survey conducted by InsightLab, from Insight Comunicação, shows that almost 40% (39.2%) of Rio residents intend to spend more on Christmas gifts compared to last year.
On the other hand, the cautious team is also numerous: 29.5% say they will spend the same amount, while 27.8% plan to save.
In the list of gifts, clothing, shoes and accessories remain unbeatable and appear in first position, with 27.8% of choices. Next comes cash or gift cards (14.8%), followed by books (13.6%).
And despite the progress of online commerce, the good old physical store still reigns supreme: 41.5% prefer to shop in shopping centers. 26% say they will split the Christmas marathon between in-person and online.
The survey interviewed 512 people between December 15 and 17, in different regions of the city.
