The latest documents released by the US Department of Justice on the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein contain references to US President Donald Trump, information that US authorities have already described as “sensational”.
Those files contain data on Trump’s travels on Epstein’s private jet, as well as other information that Washington is using to silence harsh criticism leveled against the tycoon last week over the retraction of a series of photos featuring the president.
Trump’s name now appears clearly in the last 30,000 published files, which, according to information from the television channel NBC News, shows a greater proximity to Epstein – convicted of sexual abuse and human trafficking.
However, the government has stressed that some of the documents contained “false” data and “sensational allegations against the president,” who is not accused of any crime in connection with the case but has so far tried to prevent the documents from being made public.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sexually abusing and trafficking dozens of children in the early 2000s. This millionaire, who at some point was even in contact with the likes of Prince Andrew of England – brother of Charles III -, former US President Bill Clinton and Trump, was found hanging in his cell.
