The French group already has brands in the country such as Campo Lindo, Polenguinho and Frescatino; the value of the deal was not revealed
Savencia Fromage & Dairy announced, in a press release, the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of Quatá Alimentos, a Brazilian manufacturer of cheeses and dairy products. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. The operation strengthens the presence of the French group in Brazil and expands its local portfolio with traditional brands intended for national consumption, such as Glória and Quatá, indicated the owner of Polenghi in the note.
According to Savencia, the transaction will complement the company’s operations in the Brazilian dairy market, adding the strength of the Quatá brands to the existing portfolio in the country, which includes Polenghi, Campo Lindo, Polenguinho and Frescatino.
The company emphasizes that Quatá has a wide and complementary range of cheeses and derivatives, as well as strong recognition among consumers. Quatá Alimentos is a family business whose activities are based on the collection of milk in the regions of the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
In the statement, Savencia’s global CEO Olivier Delaméa said the acquisition “reinforces Savencia’s historic presence in Brazil, where the group has been established for decades,” and added that the move represents “an important step in our growth trajectory in the country, complementing the portfolio and strengthening our position in the Brazilian dairy market.”
The founders of Quatá Alimentos, José Henrique Coutinho and Maurício Franco, also highlighted the importance of the operation. “Today we take a new step in our history by joining the great Savencia family. This alliance honors the trajectory of Quatá and reinforces our commitment to its continued development,” they say in the note.
Finalization of the transaction still depends on approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade)in accordance with Brazilian antitrust rules. Until the process is completed, Savencia and Quatá will continue to operate independently, maintaining the continuity of their activities and serving their clients and consumers.
Savencia Fromage & Dairy is an independent, family-run food group with approximately 22,700 employees worldwide. The company is one of the main global players in the dairy sector, being the second largest cheese group in France and the fifth in the world.
