A new episode of insecurity was recorded this Monday afternoon in the heart of La Plata when two criminals stole a motorcycle in front of Plaza Italia, in the area 7 and 44. The incident occurred in broad daylight and was recorded by a company’s surveillance cameras.
According to reports, the suspects acted quickly and violently: They got into the vehicle on a public street and, after violently pressing the ignition drum, managed to take possession of the motorcycle and finally escape. The sequence went unnoticed by passers-by circulating on the sidewalk, although it was recorded in images and could be crucial in the study of a modus operandi that is becoming increasingly repeated.
Days ago, a very similar incident was recorded in area 5 and 48 when two young people tried to take over a Bajaj Dominar motorcycle that was parked just a few meters from the corner. Those involved, who had hidden a stone with their belongings, wanted to damage the ignition drum, but were unable to do so.
These episodes reinforce calls for vigilance and criticism of the police’s lack of response. In both cases, the perpetrators have not been identified and the problem is causing fear as new cases with similar characteristics continue to emerge.
