Globo threatened to stop the recording of Roberto Carlos for MTV
The controversy began in the first half of March when Globo already indicated that it could stop the recording or broadcast of “Acústico MTV”. This is due to the exclusivity contract (valid at that time until 2004). The Rio TV station asked the music channel to send details of the project so that management could evaluate it.
At that time, another contract had already been signed between MTV and Sony, the king’s label. Almost two months later, Globo reported its intention to broadcast “Acústico” after the intervention of Roberto and his manager, Doddy Sirena.
