During a meeting held on Tuesday (23) with members of the Vasco Board of Directors, President Pedrinho indicated that at present he does not intend to participate in the club’s next electoral process. The election, scheduled for late 2026, will define the Vasco command for the three-year period from 2027 to 2029.
Despite the signage, there is no official position yet. Pedrinho remains determined to fully fulfill his current mandate.
The allies are still banking on a change of scenario
People close to the president believe that the scenario could evolve over the coming months. It is for this reason that the Semper Vasco political group, responsible for his election, is not yet working on alternative names for the conflict.
Nevertheless, the speech adopted by Pedrinho during the meeting caused an impact among the managers and internal leaders. The predominant perception after the meeting was that, at least for the moment, the president shows no desire to seek re-election.
Political attrition and internal conflicts weigh on the decision
The president had already publicly spoken about the wear and tear caused by the club’s political environment. At Tuesday’s meeting, Pedrinho reinforced his unease over what he called excessive internal conflicts and maneuvering by the opposition.
According to him, these actions hindered the progress of Vasco’s legal recovery plan, approved by the courts last Sunday (21). The measure is considered strategic by the current management for the financial reorganization of the club, even if it faces resistance from creditors and internal political sectors.
Family safety also enters the debate
In addition to institutional issues, personal factors played a role in the manager’s evaluation. In 2025, Pedrinho was the target of a complaint regarding an alleged kidnapping plan, an episode that generated a strong emotional impact.
The affair has led to public exposure, threats and concerns for his family’s safety, all of which have contributed to the president’s reported weariness.
Recent trajectory ahead of Vasco
Elected at the end of 2023 as head of the social club, Pedrinho assumed an even more central role in May 2024. On this occasion, Vasco filed a complaint which removed control of football from the company 777 Partners, transferring the management of sports operations to the CRVG board of directors.
