In its first minutes, “Valor Sentimental” presents two central characters: Nora (Renate Reinsve), whom we meet as an adult, in the middle of a panic attack a few moments before entering the scene, and the house where she and her sister Agnès have lived since childhood, an object of “sentimental value” which justifies the title of the film. The house bears witness, alongside the children Nora and Agnès, to the difficult process of separation of the couple, in which only the mother and the daughters remain there.
