The São Paulo Military Police arrested, between last Tuesday (12/23) and this Thursday (12/25), at least four men for domestic violence who had been released from prison thanks to provisional freedom, the “leave”, granted by law at Christmas.
The incidents were recorded in the cities of Sumaré, Nova Odessa, Bebedouro and Cosmópolis, all located inside São Paulo.
Tuesday evening (12/23), in Sumaré, a man temporarily released from prison threatened his partner with a knife during a fight.
When the victim’s brother disarmed him, the attacker threw a stone in the woman’s face, who had to be taken to the emergency room, where she remains under observation.

According to the Prime Minister, the attacker fled after the attack, but returned to the residence, where he was eventually located and arrested by the police team. He was taken to the local state prison.
In Nova Odessa, around 12:30 p.m. also last Tuesday, a woman was admitted to the municipal hospital, reporting that her ex-spouse, temporarily released from prison for theft, had threatened to kill her on the phone and in person, saying he was going to kill her and take away the couple’s daughter.
Hospital workers called the military police, who took the parties to the police station. The man was arrested in the act.
In Bebedouro, around 5:30 p.m. the same day, police responded to a case of domestic violence in which the attacker, also on temporary leave, threatened his partner. According to the company, upon noticing the police approach, the suspect swallowed a package possibly containing drugs.
Given the risk of flight, the man was handcuffed and taken to the police station. He was then taken to the pre-trial detention center, remaining at the disposal of the Ministry of Justice.
Finally, in the early hours of this Thursday (12/25), police were called to an incident of assault in a rural area of Cosmopolis. The suspect, also taking advantage of the escape, allegedly attacked his father and mother. Those involved were taken to the police station and the detainee was taken to prison.
