The Superintendence of Transportation reported inspection visits to companies in the sector following reports of possible irregularities in the provision of the service. The organization reiterated that vehicles that do not meet the technical approval conditions will not be allowed to operate.
On the earthly level, the governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, warned of the expected high volume of traffic in the entrance and exit corridors between Bogotá and the department. “Today alone, an estimated 580,000 vehicles will be able to leave Bogota and Cundinamarca, and by the end of the week we will have about 3 million 300,000 toll passes, which means there will be major traffic jams.”
Likewise, he reported that, with a view to the security of citizens, “more than 450 police units of the Traffic and Transport specialty support this task; 35 traffic officers of the Mobility Secretariat of Cundinamarca and also all the troops of the DECUN, Cundinamarca Department; of the DESAB, Sabana Department, and of the Mesoa Metropolitana of Soacha, which accompany this task of covering the department’s entry and exit routes,” explained Rey Blu radio.
