
The Esplanade of base des Mexico City was changed with the opening of “Craftsman at heart”A popular art fair that combines original expressions and products from Mexican hands. The event that is part of the Winter Light Festival 2025welcomes more than 250 artisans from 18 institutions across the country who present unique pieces at 120 stands in front of the exhibition center National Palace. The fair is open to the public until January 4, 2026except December 31st and January 1st.
According to the Secretary of Tourism in Mexico CityAlejandra Frausto, the aim is to highlight the importance of craftsmanship by pointing out that “this space brings together original pieces with heart and soul, a cultural transmission from generation to generation, reminding us to always say no to bargaining and yes to respect for those who create with their hands.”

At this meeting, visitors can learn about and purchase products made using 23 traditional techniques, including Pottery, textiles, confetti, wood, metalwork, ceramics, natural fibers, jewelry, cardboard and Wixárika art. The offer promotes fair trade and direct purchasing, benefits the economy of artisan communities and strengthens cultural ties through responsible consumption. The fair also allows audiences to learn more about the creation process behind each piece and talk to those who make them.
For her part, the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugadaemphasized that Mexico City’s Zócalo is a meeting place for culture and traditions and that with Winter Lights, “the city closes the year with a great party that engages the population and recognizes our roots, our diversity and the work of the artisan communities.” The presence of representatives from 18 states highlights the regional diversity and richness of Mexican popular art on display at each of the booths.

Artisans in the Heart offers residents and tourists the opportunity to purchase Gifts with history, identity and cultural valuein an environment that values creativity and good work. The aim of the event is to make purchasing crafts a conscious experience, where each object tells the story of its origins and the community that makes it.
The craft fair is open to the public until January 4, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entrance to the Plaza de la Constitución (Zócalo CDMX) is completely free.
