They make up the list of those who have at least one warmth to remember: singers, journalists, athletes, politicians, characters with the soul of the streets, suburbs and beaches, characters full of stories to remember. The show is opened by journalist, commentator and former politician Fernando Gabeira, protagonist of one of the most notable seasons of the late 70s and early 80s.
A thousand summer stories: Unforgettable summers by Fernando Gabeira
— Lately, summer has had a special characteristic, partly determined by climate change. The temperature became higher. In some places, it has become a public health problem. In Rio, it’s also like that. So much so that the Heat Protocol was created in the municipality – he warns. — Summer, which once was pure romance and fun, is now also a health concern due to climate change.
Gabeira was born almost 85 summers ago, on a stormy February 17, in Minas Gerais. For decades, however, Rio has been his home of work and refreshments: he has been swimming for 40 years in Flamengo, cycling in Lagoa and is in the memory of many Brazilians as the protagonist of Verão da Tanga, a story that he finds in a special video for O GLOBO published this Friday on the networks.

— I bought a thong at Fiorutti, a store on Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz. And another thong I got from my cousin, Leda (Nagle). I used one and it had a huge impact. In Brazil, men did not wear flip-flops – recalls Gabeira, 84, explaining that at that time, he had just returned from Europe, where he had gone into exile and where he went naked to the beach, while in Rio they were already waiting for the end of the dictatorship and more freedom. — It was the announcement of a new era.
