The Civil Guard of Cuenca rescued, after more than three hours of incessant searching, two lost and disoriented hikers in a difficult to access area as they traveled the hiking route known as ‘The Picayo Route’, In … the municipality of Sierra Arches (Basin).
The Civil Guard Complex Operational Center (COC) alerted a patrol from the Cañaveras Post that two people were lost and disoriented in the mountain while hiking. The officers immediately went to the scene, in front of cross a steep and very difficult to access place on foot at night and there was dense, plastered vegetation which made passage difficult.
After about an hour and a half, the Civil Guard managed to find the location where the lost marriagelocated on the opposite side of the Trabaque Rivertherefore they had the additional difficulty of having to find a fording area to cross the river, to be able to reach both and, at the same time, it was possible for the couple to return to the other side and descend safely to avoid any type of risk, given the conditions of the terrain.
Once safe, the officers transferred them to their vehicle, without any medical assistance being necessary, because although they were tired and a little disoriented, they were in good health.
